This study aimed to investigate the considerations and levels of satisfaction of Taiwanese fans who joined the 2004 Athens Olympic Baseball Cheering Team. Personally involved in the group, the researcher distributed 100 questionnaires to the team members and 79 valid questionnaires were statistically analyzed. The statistical analysis of the 79 valid questionnaires indicated that: 1.The majority of the participating members'jobs were service industry with Income of more than NT$ 50,000 per month. Most of them were unmarried males, aged 16-35 with collegial educational background in majority. 2.'Passion and honor'was the mainly constituted considerations for them to join the Cheering Team, specifically including personal 'passion to baseball,' 'national emotion' for supporting Chinese Taipei baseball team on the spot, 'on-site excitement' the spectators had to assume a wonderful competition, and 'odds of winning' of sharing honor. 3.While satisfying aspects the spectators had were 'fan performance,' 'on-site atmosphere,' and 'degrees of competitiveness' in order, the dissatisfactory ones were 'governmental subsidy,' 'transportation facility,' and 'field equipment.' It is expected that the results of this study can provide sports managerial personnel and tourist agents with guidelines to planning for sporting tourism and recruiting potential participants. Further research on what sports attract the audience, reasonable budget to be accepted, and the influence of the supported athletes'performance on the participants'satisfaction is needed for investigation. |
