Patient safety is a new healthcare discipline. Most importantly, falls prevention has become a critical indicator measuring hospital service performance in patient safety, especially while falls are the most common cause of injury-related accident in neurological patients. To avoid the accidents, appropriate and effective policy and procedures will be required to be well-practiced, which include arousing awareness of safety concepts among patients, enhanced clinical experience and acute observation and care skills among professionals. Simulation Training Program is applied to falls prevention, which has proved to be practical and helpful. This application allows professionals to identify potential risks of falls in various scenarios of hospitalized neurological patients and enhance care skills. Meanwhile, medical teams which introduce this simulation program are able to efficiently improve quality of health care by improving trainees' skills as well as propose well-organized and effective falls prevention strategies; therefore, nursing care of neurological patients can be more advanced. |
