Patient safety has been considered as a major issue of health care management in recent decades. For the purposes of reducing preventable medical errors and shaping safety culture, a number of health care facilities established the authority. In the meanwhile, the concepts of risk management were adopted in order to achieve medical process improvements. The aim of this article is to share the experience of promoting patient safety and quality improvement in National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH). Two strategies of promoting patient safety and quality improvement, which included setting up management structures and carrying out improvement projects, were employed by NTUH. In this article, we also take Warfarin Safety Project as an example so as to introduce the operation of these two strategies. |
