The purpose of this research is discussing the teacher professional ability and professional development in the era of knowledge economy.The purposes of this paper include: (1) to understand the essence of and characteristics of the era of knowledge-based economy; (2) to discover knowledge economy’s impact for school education; (3) to understand the teacher professional ability in the knowledge economy society; (4) to understand the path of professional development; (5) to provide the suggestion. With increased mobility of information and the global work force, knowledge and expertise can be transported around the world. The knowledge economy differs from the traditional economy in several respects:(1) Information and knowledge can be shared, and actually grow through application. (2) Knowledge has higher practical value (3) Human capital - competencies - are a key component of value in a knowledgebased company. The evolving knowledge economy has important implications for teacher professional development. According to the conclusion,this paper proposes some suggestions for school and teacher. |
