The world has changed. The once mainstream of school culture which was based upon mandatory discipline couldn't function well any more facing the ever-changing situation. It's essential to adapt to a new model which put the emphasis on respecting individualism, pluralism, fraternity, kindness and an embrace of innovation. Such a kind of new campus culture is under way. The researcher intended to explore the implementation of gender –equity education at schools, the barriers and solutions. With a semi-constructive interview four facets were investigated such as: administration, curriculum, instruction and atmosphere. School principals, deans and teachers in 6 elementary schools (22 in total) were the interviewees. The findings are: 1. To build a sound pattern of organizational operation; 2. To strengthen parental recognition on gender-equity acknowledging; 3. To emphasize the importance of diversification and equity in curriculum design; 4. To shape learning context related to children's life experience; 5. To deconstruct teachers' authority; 6. To foster a school atmosphere of respect, democracy and multiple participation. |
