The rise of contemporary digital media has triggered a huge structural change in the media environment, with different types of media not only coexisting but also constantly interacting with the old and new media logics, thus forming a hybrid media system, and gradually achieving media convergence, prompting the world to enter a new era of omnimedia. The deep mediatization of omnimedia has further led to the coevolution and covariation of the comprehensive non-linear contrapuntal dialectic between the media and other institutions, and the molding figurations effect of the media have facilitated a process of contemporary media populism. In particular, there is a Weberian ideal-typical “elective affinity” articulatory mechanism between the “new media logic” of social media and the “political logic” of populism, and the two articulate to produce a deeply resonant “contrapuntal complicity” relationship. At the same time, due to the transformation and development of the digital turn and affective turn in the contemporary media field, the opportunity structures for the development of populism have been directly expanded, which has led to the rise of “populist political communication”, thus shaping the media complicity communication landscape of global media populism.
