The purpose of this research is to investigate the individuation process of a client who experienced physical and psychological trauma due to a workplace accident resulting in a severe hand injury. Using Jungian psychotherapy and through the multi-aspects of seahorse symbolism, forming a connection with himself and the therapist as well as activating the recovery process with resilience, and the seahorse symbolism anchored the individualization process. Content from eight individual therapeutic sessions and one father-son family consultation was analyzed, along with referral records. The findings revealed four central themes: (1) Individuation process of a client who has severe hand injury due to a work-related accident unfolded; (2) Experiencing loneliness, and attempts toward belonging and recovery; (3) A balanced flow of anima and animus essence; (4) Using the Seahorse as a healing medicine creates new opportunities for healing transformation. The conclusion of the study is that in psychotherapy, from leaving home in anger during a parent-child conflict as a teenager to the physical and mental pain caused by a broken palm in middle age, the seahorse symbolism is used as a medicine to heal and to accompany the body and mind, to get through the heart-wrenching moments of life, and to become aware of the resilience, wisdom, emotion and confidence that nurtures one’s own nature. The symbolic meaning and application of the seahorse in Jungian psychotherapy helps the client to regulate and transform, and to rebuild the parent-child relationship in real life, so that ‘home’ can finally become a peaceful place for the client to live in.
