With the increasing frequency of fire incidents in healthcare facilities, ensuring the safety of patients and medical staff has become a key concern. Using 3D modeling and simulation technology to visualize emergency response processes during a fire, the SIMFIRE project enables healthcare facilities to assess the feasibility of current fire compartmentation, evacuation routes, and emergency response plans. Visual simulations help healthcare facilities identify potential risks, optimize evacuation strategies, and enhance response efficiency. The SIMFIRE project has been implemented in multiple hospitals, where it has effectively improved relevant teams’ awareness of emergency response plans and provided a foundation for refining training and drill designs.
Moving forward, we will continue enhancing the SIMFIRE project by tailoring emergency response optimizations to various healthcare settings and specialized units, thereby strengthening fire prevention and evacuation management, improving disaster prevention mechanisms in healthcare facilities, and creating a safe healthcare environment.
