With the advent of the era of artificial intelligence (AI), the impact is wide-ranging, especially in the field of artificial intelligence law, there are many copyright-related issues worth discussing. As the current Copyright Act has not clearly defined compound works, this article aims to apply comparative law method to explore the concept of compound works and their relationship with other types of works. This article suggests that the Copyright Act should explicitly specify compound works. Moreover, in light of new form of creation and utilization assisted or generated by Generative AI (AI Generated Content) learning from vast amounts of data, the Copyright Act may also consider distinguishing between the AI learning stage and utilization stage and specifying the legal boundaries for the use of copyrighted materials. These adjustments would help solve copyright issues arising from the era of AI. |
