The purpose of this research is to explore the motivations of men entering the home care service work. The research method adopts content analysis. The research objects are three male home caregivers, who have been engaged in home care service work for more than six years in long-term care institutions, and semi-structured in-depth interviews are used to collect and analyze data. The results of the study are that work motivations are personal factors (supporting a family, gaining happiness, being physically healthy, identifying the meaning of work) and environmental factors (economic downturn, family support, opportunities and fate). The government should plan an appropriate long-term care policy to have the pay raise and build better welfare system for home caregivers. Related units must also strengthen the concept of gender equality for home caregivers, and improve the public’s prejudice against male home caregivers.
