The study was to examine the relationships among primary school teachers' job stress, job satisfaction and sense of meaningful life. In order to do so, the questionnaire data was analyzed via structural equation modeling. The following results were arrived at: (1) There is a significant negative correlation between teachers' job stress and job satisfaction, and a positive correlation between their job satisfaction and sense of having a meaningful life. (2) The effect of teachers' job stress on their sense of having a meaningful life is mediated by the degree of their job satisfaction.
Three suggestions were proposed on the basis of the research findings. First, job satisfaction can be enhanced by way of the reduction of job stress. Secondly, in order to promote the sense of meaningful life, there must be greater job satisfaction. Third, future research into these issues may be improved by increasing the number of subjects from different regions, and also by retesting the relationships among the three variables by more samples from the junior and senior high school teachers. |
