This purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of wellknown mathematics cram school teachers' teaching of Taiwanese high school students upon their high school teachers' teaching objectives, teaching material, teaching methods, and evaluations. Qualitative research method was used, and three junior high and three senior high school expert teachers were invited as participants. The results were as follows: (a) The teaching objective of the case teachers is to cultivate the ability of understanding the principles of mathematics, because they are worried the students participating the cram education just learn the formulas of mathematics in cram schools; (b) The teaching materials selected by the case teachers focus on the fundamental conceptions, and they will supply the deeper materials which cram school teachers adopt; (c) The teaching methods of the case teachers emphasize the construction of mathematics principles, and they teach some alternative ways of solving the same problems; (d) The evaluation of the case teachers include the fundamental conceptions of mathematics principles emphasized in class to cultivate the ability of understanding and the positive learning attitude. |
