Eczema is a common skin condition which causes itchiness as the main manifestation. It can be divided into acute, subacute and chronic stage according to the course of the disease. It can be accompanied by the redness, blisters, papules, plaques, scales or crusts, and even lichenified lesions. We present a case of a 22-year-old male patient who has had itchy red rashes all over his body since he was 13 years old. Follicular eczema was diagnosed by a Western dermatology clinic and was treated with topical corticosteroids for many years, with limited improvement and relapsed. He turned to our traditional Chinese medicine clinic for treatment. There were scattered red papules, erythemata, plaques, erosions, and pigmentation distributed on the left forearm, neck, right thigh, chest and back. The syndrome was classified as ''血風瘡Xie-Feng-Chuang '', we gave the patient Xiao-Feng-San and Long-Dan-Xie-gan-Tang as main prescriptions. After about 3 months of treatment, the itchy condition was significantly improved and the symptoms became stable. |
