Electro-Fenton system is the most effective advanced oxidation process for the treatment of organic wastewater. Anode of fuel cell produces electricity and the cathode combines with the Electro-Fenton system possess the function of self-maintenance. The performance of the electrode affects the efficiency of the system, and it can be optimized by surface modification. In this study, sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was used to activate the carbon nanotubes (CNT) in order to prepare electrode with a performance as good as graphene (GR). The experiment includes: (1) The production of H2O2;(2) Contact angle measurement; (3) Fourier transform infrared spectrum measurement; (4) Scanning electron microscope observation; (5) The efficiency for Electro-Fenton system. It was shown that the carbon nanotubes exhibited sheet-like structures after activation, and oxygen-containing functional groups and hydrophilicity property were improved; the response current was 1.30 mA/cm2; the efficiency of the cathode system was compared with that before activation, its reaction rate can be increased by 2.16 times. In summary, the activated carbon nanotubes can effectively improve the processing efficiency in the electro-Fenton system, which has the potential for the development of fuel cell. |
