Industrial pipelines paly a very important role in the petrochemical, refining, steel and power generation industries. Most of these pipelines are buried and their integrity is highly important. Defects like corrosions and cracks destruct the integrity of pipeline and can cause highly dangerous damage results. In Taiwan, the explosion of buried pipelines in Kaohsiung in 2014 has had a major impact on public safety. The issues related to pipelines inspection and safety management have been the focus of attention in the past few years. This paper integrates multiple non-destructive testing technologies for long-distance pipelines corrosion inspection, including in-line inspection (IP inspection), guided wave testing, quantitative electromagnetic ultrasonic testing, and pulsed eddy current testing, etc. For the different parts of the long-distance pipelines, the 4 testing methods are applied to different pipe section. Meanwhile, pipeline corrosion monitoring is proposed as the long term care 2.0 of pipelines, which provides a solution for pipeline safety management. |
