The oxidation behavior of a 20 μm-thick Co-based amorphous ribbon (2705M, Co69Fe4Ni1Mo2B12Si12 in at.%) was studied over the temperature range of 450 ~ 600 ℃ in dry air. The oxidation kinetics of the Co-based alloy at three selected temperatures generally followed a complex multi-stage parabolic-rate law, of which the oxidation rates increased with increasing temperature. In general, the scale formed on the Co-based alloy consisted of an exclusive cubic- CoO. Based on XRD analyses, three crystalline phases of Co2B, Co3B and hcp-Co were detected, indicating that phase transformation of the amorphous substrate occurred. |
