2024 aluminum is a popular material for the use of military equipment and need proper surface modification to improve its corrosion resistance. For specific requirement, the surface modification must have good electrical conductivity as well. This paper studied on the corrosion resistance and electrical conductivity of nickel deposition by different surface modification methods-brush plating and electroless plating. By comparing the characteristic of nickel deposition by the tests of porosity, adhesion, electricity, salt spray, the results show that the electroless nickel plating deposition on 2024 aluminum alloy have better adhesion and the conductivity is less than 2.5 mΩ, conform to the specification of XX project; on the other hand, the deposition by brush plating have bad corrosion resistance because of its porosity. However the time of salt spray test for brush plating specimens are still over 48 hours. |
