Laser surface cladding technique was employed to produce silicon containing stainless steels on carbon steels. Their high temperature oxidation behaviors, along with AISI 310 stainless steels, were explored. The effect of silicon on high temperature oxidation resistance was also investigated. Thermal-gravimetric measurements were conducted in an atmosphere of 0.5 atm oxygen partial pressure at 700℃ and 900℃ for oxidation kinetics analyses. The structure and morphology of oxides formed on the specimens oxidized isothermally at 700℃and 900℃, respectively, in I atm air were also examined in this study. |
