With the recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, financial institutions with large amounts of customer data are actively investing in the development of new AI applications, products, and services, and are expanding the application of AI in various areas. However, the financial industry is highly regulated in our country, and as AI applications become more diverse and complex, the potential risks associated with these applications also increase. Issues such as privacy violations and ethical biases that could affect the rights of financial consumers need corresponding regulatory frameworks. Internationally, different regulatory stances on AI applications have emerged. This paper aims to outline the potential risks of AI applications in the financial sector and analyze current foreign legislative regulations regarding AI oversight. It will also specifically examine the policies of Singapore’s financial regulatory authority concerning AI in finance, offering insights for our country’s financial institutions and regulatory bodies. Finally, recommendations will be provided regarding the inadequacies in the current AI guidelines and regulatory policies for financial institutions in our country, along with a suggested framework for establishing internal regulations to mitigate the potential negative impacts of AI in the financial sector and promote the overall development of the fintech industry. |
