Purposes To explore the factors influencing the workplace happiness of nursing staff in a regional teaching hospital in central Taiwan. Methods A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was adopted. The study is carried out only after the research ethics committee approve. There are three scales includes organizational support, psychological capital, and happy at work. A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed, and 386 (96.5%) were effectively recovered. Results Most of the nursing staffs are female, with an average age of 34.55±9.67 years old, nurses, unmarried, non-religious, university, childless, and an average monthly income of 40,001-45,000 yuan. Organizational support is in the upper middle level, and peer support is higher than supervisor support. Psychological capital is in the upper middle level, and the dimensions are self-efficacy, hope, optimism, and resilience in order. Happy at work is moderate, with job satisfaction, work engagement, and organizational commitment. There were significant differences in psychological capital in terms of gender, marriage, having children, monthly income, and job title. There were significant differences in happy at work in terms of having children, monthly income. There was a significant positive correlation between organizational support and psychological capital and workplace happiness. The two dimensions of psychological capital, self-efficacy and hope, have a significant impact on workplace happiness. Conclusions Psychological capital is the main source of employees’workplace happiness, and managers can use the advantages of psychological capital as a tool to maintain employee positivity, which is beneficial for increasing the happiness of nursing staff. |
