This paper discusses the interactivity between Wei Yingwu’s body image and Chuzhou’s landscape. More specifically, it analyses Wei’s personal experience with indigenous factors in Chuzhou and psychological adaptive process in the period of serving as Chuzhou’s prefectural governor. Simultaneously associating with Sangha and appreciating landscapes, Wei had gradually comprehended the nature and tasted the joy from Buddhist wisdom. As a case in study of Tang’s poets, Wei had been influenced by the natural aesthetics from Tao Qian and Xie Lingyun in his own conscientious but unfettered career. This paper believes, from Langya’s landscape, Wei had found identities out of his career life, and therefore his physical activities and self-cultivation can be regarded as present experiences when he had already immersed into the nature. |
