The Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County and the former Tainan County (before its merger) were among the early areas settled by Han Chinese pioneers who crossed the sea to reclaim land, starting from the Tian-qi period of the Ming Dynasty. During the 213 years of Qing Dynasty (1683-1895), 28 Confucian cultural facilities emerged in this region, though only 6 remain today. Through documentary research, field surveys, and the application of digital humanities tools, this study conducts a comprehensive investigation and analysis of the 28 Confucian cultural facilities in the area, including Confucian schools(儒學), academies, Wen-Chang Temples(文昌祠), commendation temples(旌表祠廟), and independently built character-revering furnaces(惜字亭). Based on the findings, relevant recommendations are proposed to creatively and flexibly utilize digital technology for promoting these existing or destroyed Qing Dynasty Confucian cultural facilities, thereby enhancing public awareness of them. |
