Prompt Intervention for Dengue Fever Outbreak in Cianjhen District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, September–November 2022

高雄市於2022年8月29日至10月2日出現18例登革熱本土群聚疫情，此次疫情發生於往年前鎮區好發疫情區塊，於首例個案出現時，立即進行大於150公尺的緊急防治，並於疫情周邊里別設立警戒區、查報髒亂點、加強環境孳生源清理等作業。以區級為主體召開前進指揮會議進行跨單位、跨行政區合作，以即時整合當地環境防治，並於監測期使用誘殺桶及捕蚊燈進行病媒蚊風險評估。後續依監測所得病媒蚊風險高之位置之周邊範圍加強孳生源清除、化學防治或與環境掃蕩等工作，並透過府級會議來持續加強相關權責單位之協力，將疫情遏止於一定範圍中，本次多面向防治及協調經驗提供相關單位未來防治參考。

Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral infection, poses a significant health risk in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Cianjhen district, a high-risk area, experienced an outbreak from August 29 to October 2, 2022, with 18 confirmed cases. Local authorities implemented a multi-pronged approach to control the outbreak. This included intensified vector control measures, such as breeding-site elimination, chemical spraying, and container reduction, within a 150-meter radius of identified cases. Furthermore, enhanced communication and coordination through frequent meetings at the district and city levels ensured a unified response. Daily vector surveillance provided continuous monitoring of the outbreak. This prompt and coordinated intervention strategy successfully controlled the outbreak within 34 days. The experience offered valuable insights for future dengue prevention and control efforts, highlighting the importance of rapid action and collaborative strategies.
