2024年臺南市發生一起百日咳家庭群聚衍生校園群聚事件，確定病例共計4人。衛生單位於6月12日接獲指標病例通報，即展開疫情調查及相關防治工作。為避免疫情擴大，針對其家庭、校園及補習班之126名密切接觸者轉介醫療評估，其中107名接觸者進行預防性投藥或治療用藥，疫情監測至7月16日未持續蔓延。由於青少年及成人，幼時經由疫苗所獲得百日咳之免疫力，已隨時間遞減；若感染則大多症狀輕微，因此易受忽略或就醫不易鑑別診斷。建議衛生單位平時應持續宣導，並提高民眾疫苗基礎與補強接種、就醫及醫療院所通報認知或警覺。

In 2024, a household cluster of pertussis (whooping cough) in Tainan City led to a subsequent outbreak at a school, resulting in four confirmed cases. Upon receiving the report of the index case on June 12, health authorities immediately initiated an epidemiological investigation and implemented infection control measures. To prevent further spread, 126 close contacts from the affected household, school, and cram school were referred for medical evaluation. Of these, 107 individuals received prophylactic or therapeutic medication. As of July 16, surveillance indicated that the outbreak had been contained.
Because the immunity conferred by childhood vaccination against pertussis wanes over time, and infections in adolescents and adults often present with mild symptoms, pertussis may be overlooked or difficult to diagnose clinically. We recommended that health authorities continue public education about pertussis, promote the importance of pertussis primary series and booster vaccinations, encourage citizens to seek medical attention when symptomatic, and increase healthcare provider awareness to ensure prompt reporting of the disease.
