In recent years, increasing attention has been directed toward ACG works that feature “idols” as their central theme. Fans are regarded as supporting these characters in their pursuit of becoming “authentic” idols within the narrative world. However, compared to general animated works, scholarly research on virtual idols remains limited, and many aspects have yet to be fully explored. This study aims to clarify the meaning of the “behind the scenes” narratives depicted in virtual idol works (2D idol theme content) and the features of their narrative unfolding. To this end, a text-mining content analysis was conducted on a total of 267 episodes of four main stories of “IDOLY PRIDE” in which the phrase “behind the scenes drama makes the stage shine” is used. The results revealed that behind the scenes is the narrative of the process of forming and acquiring idol-ness to shine as an idol, overcoming hardships, becoming the top of idols, and being gazed at as an “admired” idol. In addition, the existence of an indicator Mana Nagase, realistic descriptions of emotions, and the narratives of “now” were found to be characteristic of the narrative unfolding. |
