In order to enhance the function of university campus mental health, as well as to discover the needs in developing more of the campus mental health programs, eight university mental health centers in Taipei area have been studied. Through the archive collection and personnel interview, the report here emphasizes on tne organizational structure, functions, service areas, and the interaction with other resources. Results indicate that: (1) The structure of mental health center in relation to other agencies within the university are ambiguous and complicated. (2) The main issue of mental health center emphasizes on the work of secondary prevention. The service target are students mainly. However, some of them also cover the faculties, staff and the graduates. (3) In spite of the heavy work load, the counselors still functioned well under limited resources, including manpower, money, housing, etc. (4) Social network within campus were narrow, outside social supprts also limited. The centers need make more efforts to improve the communication and to increase the interacion with all the resource agencies. Final suggestions on policy implication are discussed. |
