The purpose of this research was to test the validity of the ''drug abuser attitude scale, DAAS''. There were 101 drug abusers enrolled in the study group, and the test was given to each subject via self-report. Acceptable inter-item consistency, Cronbach' s α, and test-retest coefficient γ values were found. Construct validity was established by factor analysis and the following five factors related to the DAAS: benevolence attitude, personal attitude, willingness to care, patient's characteristics, and case disposition, with a 41.1% share of variance. After then, there were 48 drug abuse inpatients enrolled to test the changes of DAAS during their admission periods. There were significant differences in personal attitude, and in case disposition between admission and discharge. The factors of the DAAS were found to be present in significantly different quantities among the various treatment periods, showing the attitude scale to be an effective tool in clinical evaluation. |
