Though the prevalence of depressions, anxiety disorders and alcoholism have markedly increased under the impacts of rapid industrialization and social changes during the past 3 decades in Taiwan, the rate of schizophrenia and the related psychotic disorders have remained to be fairly the same. Basing on the findings obtained from the nation-wide epidemiological studies in 1946-48, 1961-63 and 1982-86, the author discussed on some hypothethical issues regarding the etiology of psychoses and non-psychotic disorders. |
