The purposes of this report were to assess the effects of the application of computer skills training on clients with psychiatric disabilities and to follow up their employment status. The 24 participants from Taipei Mental Rehabilitation Association received 24 sessions of the computer skill training courses and each session last for three hours. Participants completed the computer key-in test and attention test at the beginning and the end of the computer skills training courses. The researcher assessed the in class behaviors of the participant in every session using observation forms. The results of this study showed 66.67% (N = 16) of the participants improved in their attention ability and 79.17% (N = 19) increased their performance on key-in skills. The three significant aspects of improvement were on comprehension, frustration tolerance, and endurance. Ten participants were employed and most of their jobs related to computer skills. Therefore, the computer skill training not only increases their computer skills but also expands their job opportunities. |
