Accordingly, there should be some people have difficulty in reading musical notation. Therefore, this study tried to screen out these people, and explore their strategy while they read musical staff. We conducted two studies, quantify research and qualitative research. The former, we developed an assessment of reading musical staff that could assess the person with reading disability in musical notation. The latter, we made a deep interview with these people who had disability in reading musical notation, to explore their process of reading musical staff. We found that the music learning disability owed common musical sense, but they read staff slowly. Because they counted each note on the musical staff by line and space. Finally, the ability of reading music was nothing to do with learning motivation and absolute pitch. |
