The 60 poems of ''Suantou Sugar Factory Bamboo Branch Poems'' written by Mr. Huang Zhe-yong record the historical development, cultural background and industrial transformation of the Suantou Sugar Factory. This study, based on the perspective of cultural memory, explores how these bamboo branch poems serve as a carrier of local memory and cultural inheritance. These bamboo poems not only show the important position of the Suantou Sugar Factory in Taiwan's sugar industry, but also present the transformation process of the sugar industry from production to cultural tourism , and reflect the emotional attachment and collective memories of local residents towards the sugar industry. This paper employs a systematic integration of literary analysis, historical research, and industrial culture research methods to explore the historical significance and cultural value contained in the bamboo branch poems. First, through close reading, it analyzes the literary characteristics and regional writing of the poems, revealing their delicate descriptions of the sugar factory's spatial landscape and historical sites. Second, combined with historical research, it analyzes how the poems reflect the modernization and exploitation of the sugar industry during the colonial period, as well as the rise and fall of state-owned enterprises and changes in local life after the war. Finally, it focuses on the process of the Suantou Sugar Factory's transformation into a tourist park, exploring the cultural resources, nostalgic imagery, and potential for local revitalization presented in the bamboo branch poems. Research has found that Huang Zhe-yong's ''Bamboo Branch Poems of Suantou Sugar Factory'' is not only a poetic expression of local history, but also a valuable document witnessing the development of Taiwan's sugar industry and the changes in local culture, which is of great value for the preservation and reconstruction of cultural memory. |
