Facial or cosmetic acupuncture is an emerging integrative therapy that combines traditional meridian-based needling techniques with modern neurostimulation, targeting facial muscles and related systemic acupoints to improve skin laxity, reduce wrinkles, and modulate facial muscle tone. Clinical evidence suggests that repeated micro-needling can increase local blood supply, activate dermal fibroblasts, and stimulate the synthesis of collagen and elastin, thereby promoting tissue repair and improving skin elasticity and radiance. The incidence of adverse effects is extremely low, underscoring its safety and tolerability. Based on current studies, facial acupuncture offers a natural and minimally invasive approach to aesthetic enhancement. Future research should focus on the standardization of treatment parameters and the establishment of objective evaluation indicators to strengthen its clinical and scientific value in aesthetic medicine. |
