Social and emotional learning (SEL) has become an essential concept in contemporary education. It emphasizes individuals’awareness and regulation of their own emotions, effective interaction with others, and responsible behavior and decision-making—highlighting both personal growth and collaborative engagement. This concept closely reflects the core values of Taiwan’s 12-Year Basic Education Curriculum Guidelines. Numerous studies have shown that stronger SEL competencies have far-reaching impacts on individuals, including enhanced academic performance, improved interpersonal relationships, future achievements, and overall physical and mental well-being. Therefore, it is crucial to lay the foundation for SEL from an early age and to cultivate supportive learning environments through educational settings and community engagement, creating opportunities for junior high and elementary school students to experience and develop these skills. Consequently, effective communication and collaboration among schools, teachers, and parents are of paramount importance. |
