臉部情感辨識神經網路與數位物質性的探究—皮相系列實踐

在AI神經網路急遽發展的當下，對於新媒體藝術中的物質性，也產生新的可能性與影響。本文回顧近年來關於數位物質性的探討，以及「新物質性」的觀點，以國際上幾件當代藝術作品為例，意圖歸納出當代數位物質性的幾個特質。在實踐層面的探究上，本文以《皮相》（2025）系列的實驗性開發作為上述探討的延續，透過整合AI臉部情感辨識神經網路、數據視覺化、數據轉譯與數位成型等技術，將人類在社群媒體上表現的臉部情感轉譯為實體物件的展陳，此過程探究數位物質性在神經網路急遽發展的當下，其延伸的藝術實踐反思性與可能性。

With the rapid advancement of AI neural networks, the materiality of new media art has encountered new possibilities and impacts. This paper reviews recent discussions on digital materiality and perspectives on“neomateriality”, drawing upon several contemporary international artworks to identify key dimensions of digital materiality today. In terms of practical exploration, the paper introduces the experimental development of ''The Skin'' (2025) series, which integrates AI-driven facial emotional recognition neural networks, data visualization, data translation, and digital fabrication. By transforming facial emotions expressed on social media into tangible objects, this process explores the reflective potential and possibilities of artistic practice in digital materiality amid the rapid development of neural networks.
