Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) has emerged as a critical glob¬al issue for enterprises and government organizations, aiming for foster inclusive work environment and enhance efficiency by eliminating dis¬crimination based on gender, race, and disability in personnel appoint¬ments and business environments. Although similar practices to the DEI concept already exist in the education field, they are less frequently inte¬grated into the three DEI concepts to assess their degree of implementa¬tion. The main purpose of this study is to conduct a pilot construction of checklist indicators for how preschools can implement the DEI concept. This indicator system can serve as a checklist for preschools to verify whether they comply with the DEI concept and can also be used to devel¬op preschool management strategies. Through a literature review, docu¬ment analyses and focus group interviews, this study constructed a pilot indicator system including 4 dimensions: 1. management and leadership strategies, 2. classroom management and professional development, 3. curriculum development and instruction implementation, and 4. family environment and community resources,”which can also be further di¬vided into 12 aspects and 50 indicators. Based on the findings, this study suggests that the indicator system can be used to strengthen the under-standing of the DEI concept among preschool leaderships and teachers, and to assess the degree to which their own curriculum and instruction are being implemented. Further study should focus on prioritizing these indicators and conduction broader measurements to capture the present status of DEI implementation across diverse preschool settings. |
