P.3142《羯諦真言靈驗記》為敦煌靈驗記中未附於任何佛典而獨立流傳的佛教靈驗記，且為敦煌佛教靈驗記中唯一一則以誦讀真言為主題的靈驗故事。就其內容而言，此應為敦煌地區民間流傳的靈驗事件。P.3142《羯諦真言靈驗記》的敘事結構與敘事觀點，都以最容易使作品被理解與流傳的方式呈現，有助於達到宗教宣傳的目的。寫卷明確記載的地點，「白龍廟」有可能為唐武德期間建立的「白龍宮」，雖當今傳世文獻不充分，不足以明確證明兩者的相關性，但能從相關歷史、地理推論兩者的關聯，或許可說明此故事的地點發生在敦煌地區，在文學作品中具有擬真的效用。「白龍廟」祭祀「白蛇」的事件，具有豐富的「龍」文化意涵，涉及中國神話、文化、佛教與敦煌地區信仰等，以此可探究文化交流與民間習俗的概況。

P.3142 is a Buddhist record included in the Dunhua manuscripts. This unique, standalone story, separate from any other Buddhist text, may be translated as“Records of the Efficacious Jiedi Mantra.”It is the only story in the Dunhuang collection of Buddhist miracle stories centered on the recitation of mantras, with the contents suggesting the miraculous, or efficacious, event was spread among the people of Dunhuang. The location specifically mentioned in the manuscript, Bai Long or“White Dragon Temple,”may refer to the 構造White Dragon Palace構造 built during the Wude period of the Tang Dynasty. While existing documents do not provide sufficient evidence, other relevant historical and geographical sources provide some support for this connection between the two. As such, these sources suggest that the story took place in the Dunhuang region, offering the effect of realism within the work. Worship of the White Snake at the White Dragon Temple conveys rich connotations related to dragon and their role in Chinese mythology, culture, Buddhism, and beliefs among the people of the Dunhuang region. This offers an exploration of the profile of cultural exchange and folk customs in this region.
