From 1970s to 1990s, Political Psychology has applied to International Relations, but only since 2000, the“emotional turn”empowered International Political Psychology the meaning of revival and impacts. Including the debates between scholars with different perspectives (ontology, epistemology, methodology, and research methods), the practice values of issues study, interdisciplinary trends and challenges of International Political Psychology, and the impacts of“emotional turn”. All demonstrate the“emotional turn”is reinvigorating the progress of International Political Psychology, it will be the“eyes of windows”to the progress for analyzing. Firstly, this paper explore the development of“emotional turn”and Political Psychology in International Relations to demonstrate the processing of scholars applied Political Psychology as approach to study the fields and issues. Secondly, reviewing the“emotional turn”in the processing to show the chronic neglect to emotion study by taking the rational calculating for national interests. Thirdly, exploring the works(articles and books) of scholars to show they has brought the“emotional turn”, and reinvigorate the impacts of emotions in International Relations, and the revival of International Political Psychology. Separately, to explore scholars by way of“theorization of national emotions”,“reconceptualization of key concepts”, and“reflections on methodology, research methods and issues”to revival International Political Psychology. Finally, explore the challenges and responses of ontology, epistemology, conceptualization of emotional rationality, and the discipline community. |
