To seize upon business opportunities in the international electric vehicle(EV) market, Foxtron Inc. established the MIH platform with the hope that Taiwanese ICT industrial manufacturers and overseas partners will be able to collaborate in the research and production of electric vehicles. The goal of this research was to explore key factors affecting the international competitive advantages of EV platforms. Using the MIH and Tesla EV platforms as primary case studies, this study utilized a combination of secondary data collected from multiple sources and extant literature to conduct a qualitative analysis. This study determined that the resources and capabilities of platform leaders, the mechanisms of each platform, the speed of innovation, and the richness of the ecosystem are the key factors creating value for and providing an international competitive advantage to the EV platform. This study suggests that the MIH platform should proactively establish software advantages and meet market demands through the utilization of diversified modules. |
