What Confucianism had encountered the greatest challenge in the process of modernization in China, is Confucianism will hinder the development of democracy. Although the new Confucianism developed in Taiwan and Hong Kong after World War II actively demonstrated that Confucianism could start democracy. However, it has not been actively dialoguing with Western Civic Philosophy, and at the same time, it is only in philosophical discussions. It has not been able to propose a practical method, especially how to practice Confucianism through citizen education to develop democracy. First of all, this article is try to discourse the rational transcendence of convincing benevolence is constructed by the Confucians in the past, as the ethical foundation of the Confucianism of citizens, and then based on this foundation try to explain the liberal arts education could refer this base to refine the education of citizenship. |
