儒學在中國現代化過程受到最大的挑戰,莫過於儒學是否可以開出民主?雖然二戰以後在台灣與香港所發展的新儒家積極論證儒學是可以開出民主。但是尚未積極與西方公民哲學對話,同時也僅只於哲學論述,未能提出真正的實踐方法,特別是如何透由公民教育實踐儒學以開出民主的可能性。本文受先論證確信為仁的理性超越性─透由歷代儒者對於仁的深信與身體力行接力建構而成─作為公民儒學的倫理基礎,然後根據這個基礎與當前的博雅教育對話,提出公民儒學可以開出更具民主精神的公民教育。
英文摘要
What Confucianism had encountered the greatest challenge in the process of modernization in China, is Confucianism will hinder the development of democracy. Although the new Confucianism developed in Taiwan and Hong Kong after World War II actively demonstrated that Confucianism could start democracy. However, it has not been actively dialoguing with Western Civic Philosophy, and at the same time, it is only in philosophical discussions. It has not been able to propose a practical method, especially how to practice Confucianism through citizen education to develop democracy. First of all, this article is try to discourse the rational transcendence of convincing benevolence is constructed by the Confucians in the past, as the ethical foundation of the Confucianism of citizens, and then based on this foundation try to explain the liberal arts education could refer this base to refine the education of citizenship.
