Nature education may focus on the interaction between learners and nature and allow students to learn directly in natural settings. Examples of this approach include outdoor, environmental, and marine education. From the perspective of core competencies, this study examined education-related topics related to nature in Taiwan’s 12-Year Basic Education. These competencies include spontaneity, interaction, and common good. First, the significance of spontaneity, interaction, and common good according to certain philosophical viewpoints is discussed. Second, from the perspective of life education, these core competencies are considered further by thinking of learners’interactions with nature. The final section provides suggestions for developing curricula on education-related topics on the basis of the significance of the core competencies. |
