Central venous catheters are widely used in clinical care; however, their high invasiveness makes catheter-related bloodstream infections a common and serious issue in hospitals. This article provides an overview of the risk factors, definitions, and incidence of central venous catheter-related bloodstream infections and discusses prevention strategies focused on the latest evidence-based clinical research. The most effective core measures include bundle care, standardized placement procedures, comprehensive education and training, daily chlorhexidine gluconate baths, ultrasound-assisted placement, and regular monitoring of bloodstream infection events, all of which can effectively reduce the incidence of bloodstream infections. |
