During the COVID-19 pandemic, social changes such as quarantine, disinfection, social distancing, work from home, online learning, and digital consumption can be regarded as the“new normal”, which inspires the innovation and new application of digital technology. The“new normal”continues to affect society even after the epidemic. Memory institutions such as museums and archives have applied a variety of digital technologies to promote their core business, exhibition, during the epidemic. These technologies have long-term impacts on institutions after the epidemic, and can serve as assets for future exhibition planning. This study uses case analysis and comparison method to analyze cases of memory institutions using digital technologies in exhibitions. Based on the collected cases, the digital strategies responding to the epidemic are summarized into three categories: online exhibitions, touchless digital interactions, and pop-up exhibitions with mixed media. Further, they are compared and analyzed from four perspectives: audience characteristics, epidemic prevention measures, technology application, and audience participation. Finally, the future uses of digital exhibition strategies developed during the epidemic are suggested for post-pandemic transformation. |
