The library’s exhibition services are among the few proactive services in the library field. In an era where pure reading behaviors are declining, National Cheng Kung University Library has employed strategies such as curation and visual design to transform the traditional perception of library book exhibitions. This study will analyze exhibition data provided by the curator and project executor (the author) to investigate the factors influencing reader participation in themed book exhibitions. The research focuses on the book exhibitions held throughout 2023 at National Cheng Kung University Library, using questionnaire Survey to gauge reader satisfaction and participation rates in associated events as performance indicators. The aim is to explore the potential increase in reader participation after implementing a curatorship approach in themed book exhibitions. Results indicate that students and females constitute the majority of participants. Factors influencing reader participation include themes, timing, location, visual design, and event scale. Actual data demonstrates that exhibitions curated continuously show stable and growing visitor responses, suggesting a growing recognition of the necessity of themed book exhibitions in library among readers. |
