隨著惡性腫瘤成為十大死因之首位，更突顯安寧療護需求的重要性。然而，目前國家政策主要聚焦於住院及居家病人的安寧療護，忽略了門診病人的需求，導致大量門診病人的安寧需求未能得到及時滿足。藉著本文建議，首先透過轉介標準一致性與系統自動轉介，適時篩選門診病人並介入安寧療護，不僅能在疾病早期提供症狀管理和心理支持，還能促進病人與其家屬在治療決策中的自主性和知情權。其次描述專責腫瘤安寧緩和進階護理師在評估、制定和執行護理計畫發揮核心作用，並透過衛教和支持過程中擔任關鍵角色，幫助病人及家屬能更好地因應病情變化和臨終末期照護。最後如果能夠及早在門診提供安寧療護，將使病人及家屬受益，實現以病人需求為主的全人護理模式。

With cancer now the leading cause of death, the importance of palliative care importance is increasingly evident.
