Population is one of the fundamental elements of a nation. Changes in population size and age structure significantly impact a country's socioeconomic development. To understand the long-term population changes in Taiwan and provide a basis for stakeholders to assess population-related issues - such as education, labor force, industrial development, energy, urban housing, social services, and healthcare - the National Development Council updates its population projections every two years. The latest report, Population Projections for the Republic of China (Taiwan): 2024-2070, was released in October 2024. |
