人口是國家構成的基本要素之一，人口數量與年齡結構變化攸關國家整體經社發展，為掌握我國未來長期人口變化，以作為各界在評估人口相關議題（舉如教育、勞動力、產業發展、能源、都市住宅、社會服務及醫療服務等議題）之依據，國發會每2年更新人口推估，最新一期「中華民國人口推估（2024年至2070年）」報告已於2024年10月發布。

Population is one of the fundamental elements of a nation. Changes in population size and age structure significantly impact a country's socioeconomic development. To understand the long-term population changes in Taiwan and provide a basis for stakeholders to assess population-related issues - such as education, labor force, industrial development, energy, urban housing, social services, and healthcare - the National Development Council updates its population projections every two years. The latest report, Population Projections for the Republic of China (Taiwan): 2024-2070, was released in October 2024.
