This study explored the effects of the Adler-oriented nostalgic group play therapy program as a mental health intervention for elderly people. The study adopted a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest-posttest equivalent-group design. Twenty elderly people were randomly divided into two groups containing 10 individuals each. Both groups were assessed using five scales, namely the Life Satisfaction Scale, Well-Being Scale, Hope Scale, Social Interest Scale, and Self- Concept Scale. A posttest and follow-up test were conducted upon completion of the program and again 1 month later, respectively. All collected data were analyzed using one-way analysis of covariance. The major findings of this study were as follows: (1) All five scales revealed that Adlerian reminiscence group play therapy. had immediate positive effects. (2) Adlerian reminiscence group play therapy had long-term positive effects related to social interest. This paper draws conclusions and proposes suggestions for future research on the basis of these findings. |
