In recent years, the issue of online fake news has become a global concern. While grappling with online fake news, Taiwan also faces the challenges of supervising media to ensure news stories are thoroughly verified before they are broadcast. Why has truth verification, the core value of journalism, become a statutory requirement for media supervision in Taiwan? How do news media respond to this requirement? How does the competent authority enforce the law, and what are the results of such enforcement? This paper employs the literature method and comparative policy analysis to clarify the rules and implementation of truth verification by news media and regulators |
