Objectives: Explore the clinical implications of the Taiwanese religious ritual activities in the Methadone Outpatient Group Psychotherapy. Methods: We intervened with the "encouraging card" and the "peace tree" symbolizing the "ping-an-fu" and the "kuang-ming-teng" in the Methadone Outpatient Group Psychotherapy. Five group members who signed the semi-structured interview consent form were interviewed after the group ended. We tried to understand the members' feelings and opinions of the group process and the application of Taiwanese religious ceremonies in the group through qualitative content analysis. Results: Members believe that the encouraging card can be carried on the body at any time to remind themselves, so that they can calmly and look at the problem positively, with the effect of vigilance, reminder and motivation; The peace tree is a trust, integrating Taiwan's religious culture into the symbol people do not reject, have fun and participation, care about each other and encourage each other, feel warm and close, and feel support by a "mountain". Through the combination of religious symbolic supernatural power and self-effort concept that does not violate the Confucian concept of "anti-seeking others", through group interaction, sharing and influence, the power of the God-human group matrix is generated. Conclusion: Perhaps the concept of transitional objects could explain the therapeutic effect of encouraging cards and peace tree. Through the use of religious ritual activities ,we promoted the psychological accessibility and the motivation of the group members to be prepared to change. And it may be able to improve the efficacy of group treatment for relapse prevention in the case of Methadone addicts. |
