In Taiwan, at least 200 thousands families are facing cancer each year. Therefore, it is very important to understand and concern their physical and psychological adaptation of living functions. Psychodrama is a form of group therapy developed by a psychologist, J. L. Moreno in 1921. Since articles of using psychodrama with cancer patients is not generally found in our country, the assay shared the author's practical experiences in order to invite other professionals join the field of counseling services for patients with cancer. Following Schutzenberger's Working Goals for leading psychodrama groups with cancer patients, the author led 3 psychodrama groups for breast cancer patients in 2007. The article combined six working principles of facilitating cancer patients' psychological adaptation by Faulkener & Maquire (1994) with the fundamental concepts of psychodrama. Results of telephone interviews with some of the group members are also provided. |
