“Dao(the Way) ” and the Highest God in the Early Shangqing Scriptures

This article focuses on discussing the significance of the “Dao(the Way)”and the Highest God in the main kinds of the Early Shangqing Scriptures（古上清經）: “ Three Extraordinary Writings （sanqi三奇：HY6、HY1302、HY1303）,”“ The Scripture of the Correct Law of the Three Heavens（Taishang santian zhengfa jing 太上三天正法經：HY1194）. ” The central question of this study is “ what is Taoism ? ”
In the Early Shangqing Scriptures, the “ Dao(the Way)” principally means the Way of how to become a transcendent, instead of the generally traditional meaning: teaching of the Dao. Besides, we could not consider being which the Highest God in the main kinds of the Early Shangqing Scriptures to be there.
In conclusion, we should rethink about the application that the conception of the Taoism, especially in two dimensions: the “Dao(the Way)”and the Highest God in the Early Shangqing Scriptures. Through these approaches maybe we could answer this question better : “ what is Taoism ? ”
